Lizzy the Lady Bug

Elizabeth was a lady bug for Halloween.

Here she is in her pumpkin pajamas too.

We didn't take her trick or treating or anything, but we did have a party at Robert's sister's. It was a lot of fun. Here's our witch's brew of root beer! :)
We also tried to take some fall pictures of her. We had to try and keep her in place because she kept trying to dive away!
As you can probably tell she wasn't a fan of the pictures. This was a second before she started to cry! As least we tried, right? :)

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

Visit with the Allreds

This last week, Elizabeth got to take her first visit to Arizona and see all of her cousins on the Allred side of the family for the first time. She loved all of them and she had a lot of fun!
Here she is with Grandma Allred.
Relaxing on the couch with Grandpa Allred.
My sister Lisa and all of her kids. They were so excited to play with a baby. Her favorite was Brayden on the far right. She would just stare at him. It was so funny! Ashlynn, on Lisa's lap, loved her too, but wasn't quite sure how to be gentle! :)
Going on a walk in the warm Arizona weather!
In her Sunday dress that Grandma made her. So cute!
The construction of the Gila Valley Temple just a few minutes from my parents house.
More cousins! My brother, Phillip's kids (minus Tyler) and Elizabeth. Suzanna got her laughing the best and it was hilarious!
My brother, Evan's baby Cody and Elizabeth. He's about a month old. He is such a sweet baby!
On the floor together! This was the best picture I got because Elizabeth kept trying to roll over, which she can do now both ways! YAY!
Isn't he so adorable?

I also got to celebrate my birthday while I was down there, which was so nice and a lot of fun! And guess what I got for my birthday?
A HOUSE!! Just kidding, it wasn't for my birthday, but we are buying a house. It's here in Rexburg and it's a 3 bedroom, 1 bath house about 1200 square feet. It's a perfect starter home. We'll close in a few weeks and we're really excited! This is the only picture we have. We'll take more when we move in.

It was great to spend some time with my family and Elizabeth really did have a great time down there with all of her cousins! She didn't even do too bad on the trip. She slept the whole time on the plane both times! It was wonderful!

Four Months and an ER Visit

Elizabeth is four months old today and here's is what she looks like today with a splint on her arm.
So here's the story. Tuesday afternoon, we were practicing rolling over (she's getting really close to rolling from her back to tummy). I rolled her from her tummy to her back when she started to scream in pain. It looked like her arm got a little stuck at her side while I was rolling her over. So she fussed for a little while and then went to sleep, so I thought she was fine. When she woke up, I put her in her bouncer to play when I noticed she wasn't using her arm, but she wasn't really acting like it hurt. By the time Robert got home, I was pretty worried. After he played around a bit with it, she started to act like it hurt some and she just let it hang limp. We decided we should take her to the ER. The doctor thought she had a dislocated elbow, so he tried twice to pop it back into place unsuccessfully while she screamed (broke my heart). He took an x-ray that showed pretty much nothing because it's hard to see anything on such little babies. So he called an Orthopedic doctor. He also messed with it some and decided to put it in a splint for a couple days. Yesterday we went back to him so he could check it. He's still not quite sure what's wrong, but she doesn't use it too much and she was acting like it still hurt some. He knows nothing is broken, but that's about it. So we have to keep her in the splint for a week and a half. She doesn't really seem to be phased by it now, in fact I think I'm taking it harder than her. The first two days were pretty rough though. We went with little sleep, needing to be held a lot by me, and a lot of frustration on both our parts. She wasn't in pain, I think she was just extremely annoyed to not be able to use her arm because we kept in tucked inside her clothes. Anyways, she seems to be happier now with it outside of her clothes.
Here she is trying to suck on it and her hands.
A close up of it. Hopefully when we go back, we'll be able to take it off. I can't even describe the guilt that I feel over this. Who knew rolling a baby over was so dangerous!? ;) The nurse at the hospital tried to make me feel better by telling me they get 3 or 4 of these a week. It didn't though. It's been an emotional few days and we hope to never need take her to the ER again! :)

On a happier note, she's really starting to laugh, especially when we take off her clothes. We figured out it's because she's ticklish under her arms. She always starts to laugh really good until we get the camera out, so here's the best we got. Her laugh just makes me so happy! I just love this girl!

Jackson Hole

We went to Jackson, WY this weekend to visit my sister, Wendy. Here are some of our adventures.
We went on a so-called "little" three mile hike (we were told it was one mile) at Grand Teton National Park. Here we are at a stream.
Robert and Elizabeth. Don't even ask how he got on that rock. I was just a little scared for my baby.
At Taggart Lake. You'll get used to the Tetons in ALL of the pictures.
Wendy and I trying to get a picture before this chipmunk climbs up our legs.
FEARLESS chipmunk! Seriously people, it was crazy!
Mormon Row.
More Mormon Row.
Schwabacher Landing. There's a beaver dam at the bottom.
If you look close you can see the Tetons reflected on the water. It was really pretty.
We're not quite sure where this is, but it was pretty.

It was such a pretty trip. We had lots of fun!

A Day in the Life of Elizabeth

So I had a bunch of random pictures of Elizabeth on our camera over the last month or so that I realized could pretty much sum up her day. She's three months old now and so fun. She's starting to entertain herself, which I'm so grateful for! I have to admit that I had so much fun doing this post, so it's really long. Sorry, I just love this girl! So here's how our days together go from her perspective.
I usually wake up at 7 or 8 a.m. and while Mommy showers I play in my swing (thank you Aunt Stacie). I've finally started to think that this thing is fun. I can look around and sway back and forth. But mostly I just like to suck on my snuggly, it makes me so happy!
I'm not a big fan of tummy time on the floor anymore, so Mommy puts me in my pillow and I can work my muscles pretty good here too and suck on my snuggly some more!
It's all so much work that I fall asleep. I've finally gotten into somewhat of a sleep routine. I'll take a few cat naps in the morning and one long nap in the afternoon. I'm always so much happier after naps!
Mommy likes to put me in my bouncer and play with toys. For a while she'd try and get me to hit the toys and I'd just get frustrated with her. But now I'll hit the toys myself to appease her and I've realized that it's actually kind of fun!
This is a dress that my Mommy used to wear when she was a baby. Do you think I look like her?
I like to suck on anything that can, except for my binky. The couch is awfully tasty!
I love when Daddy gets home to play with him. I guess I must wear him out!
My head control is starting to get better and so Daddy sits me in my bumbo chair in front of the TV and lets me watch college football and him play the Wii.
video
Because of my bumbo, I don't like not being able to sit up. Here I am doing what Mommy likes to call "baby crunches." Mommy and Daddy think I'll start sitting up before I roll over because rolling over just doesn't seem worth it to me.
Unfortunately I get cranky in the evenings, so Mommy and Daddy will take me on walks. Mommy and Daddy got me this car seat toy that's made my car seat a lot more fun. On walks though, I love to look at trees!
Then it's time for my bath. I love my baths now! It's that darn lotioning that I hate. Mommy feels it's necessary to try and lotion all of my little rolls so they don't get irritated.
After such a long day, I just want to cuddle with my Mommy until I go to bed around 9 or 10 p.m.

Swimming

Last night for Family Home Evening, we went to Robert's sister Becky's to go swimming. Her complex has a pool and a hot tub. The pool was a bit too cold for Elizabeth and the hot tub was a little warm, but she liked the hot tub a lot better. This was actually her second time going swimming, but we forgot our camera last time! She really does seem to like it.

A little smile.
Aunt Becky with all the cousins: Drew, Elizabeth, and Matthew.

It was a fun night!

Two Month Stats

Two posts in one day?? I know, it's crazy. I don't think I've ever done this!
Elizabeth had her two month appointment yesterday finally after waiting for a couple weeks until they had the immunizations in (long, frustrating story). So she's actually 2 1/2 months. But she's now 13 lbs. 2.5 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. She's in the 95th percentile for weight (yes, she's a chunk) and the 25th to 30th percentile for height. The doctor said the height is more accurate of what she'll really turn out to be. So she's going to be a little shorty, just like her Mom! :) I think the doctor was a little surprised I was still breastfeeding after the troubles we had with her weight in the beginning.

As far as the shots go, I was near tears all day thinking about it. I left the room when they did the shots and Robert stayed with her (such a nice husband). When she gets really upset she'll hold her breath while she's crying and Robert said this was the longest she's ever held her breath and the nurses were doing everything they could to get her to breathe! Poor baby! :( But she's doing good. She screamed for a couple of hours last night, but today she seems to be doing fine! If these darn things weren't necessary, there's no way I would do it. Like anyone would though! ;)
